If you’re planning an event or wedding and feel totally overwhelmed by the floral side of things, you’re not alone. Choosing a designer can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Here are 5 things I always recommend looking for:
💬 A consistent, cohesive portfolio. Scroll through their work. Do the designs feel intentional? Do they have a clear style or range? Consistency is a good indicator of skill, experience, and reliability.
💬 A communication style that feels easy. You should feel heard, not talked over. Pay attention to how responsive they are, how clearly they answer questions, and whether they make the process feel manageable.
💬 Experience with your type of event. Large-scale events, tented weddings, cultural celebrations, corporate activations… Each one comes with its own logistics. Choose someone who has successfully executed the type of event you’re planning.
💬 Strong logistical understanding. Floral design isn’t just artistry. It’s timing, staffing, rentals, transportation, venue rules, production, and more. The best designers are problem-solvers who can navigate all of that seamlessly.
💬 A collaborative mindset. Your designer should listen to your vision and elevate it, not force you into a box.
If you’re just starting the process and need guidance, I’m always happy to be a resource, whether we’re the right fit or I point you toward someone who is. Let’s make your event feel effortless and beautiful!
