Caroline, the bride said it all when she said “If you dream it, it can be done!”.
Florals and miles of greenery took center stage at this bright, summer garden wedding on the Ohio River at Smale Riverfront Park. From macaroon sized succulents tucked into tiny glass cases to verdant runners cascading over the ends of long dining tables covered in sparkly fabric – every detail lent itself to creating a lush, alfresco garden atmosphere.
Caroline and Shane exchanged vows under a romantic floral ceremony arch with the iconic Roebling Bridge in the background. We wanted the ceremony’s floral elements to balance the strong geometry of Smale Park’s landscape. The asymmetrical ceremony arch was created using blush and white roses, peonies and a variety of greenery including the broad leaves of the hydrangea.
At the tented reception in the park’s Anderson Pavilion we constructed hanging gardens thick with the same floral combinations we used in the floral arch. Pale lime and white hydrangea orbs hung from satin ribbons, suspended in midair like perfect spherical blooms.
Caroline envisioned flowers everywhere so in addition to tablescapes robust with garden beauty, we created an abstract floral wall of flowers that hung on the wall behind the wine bar. Dense clusters of silver dollar eucalyptus, almond blossoms, layers of roses in blush, white and cherry pushed against peony and hydrangea to create a truly memorable work of art.
