If I could give my younger self a few tips when starting in floral design, here’s what I’d say:
✨ Stay true to your vision. Don’t let the noise of trends, social media, or outside opinions pull you away from your creative voice. Your style and perspective are your superpower.
✨ Know your worth. Understand industry pricing standards and what you should be charging. It’s not just about profit, it’s about building a sustainable, thriving business.
✨ Not every client is the right fit. Sometimes a client just isn’t the right match, and that’s okay. Your people will find you. Focus on the relationships that energize and inspire you.
✨ Trust your instincts, but stay open. Follow your gut, but also be willing to listen, adapt, and learn. Balance focus with perspective, and don’t get so tunnel-visioned that you miss opportunities around you.
Floristry is as much a business as it is an art. Balancing creativity with strategy, intuition with education, and passion with patience is the key to building something meaningful and lasting.
